Motorbiking Maddness

I spent the canoeing off-season on the back of a bike going around Central and Southern Africa... It was an incredibly exciting adventure.

Highlights:
Riding on the back of the bike for 2500km, mostly off road!
The green hills of Rwanda...
Up close with gorillas in the Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Kayaking the White Nile :)
Missing two flights home.

Low lights:
Chris being stung by a scorpion in the middle of the night whilst wild camping, with no cell phone reception and 2 days from the nearest hospital, Tanzania.
Hyena and hippo right outside our tent on the same night, Tanzania.
Kayaking the Zambezi!
Having a black mumber hunt a chameleon a few meters from our camp, Botswana.

Running in Halifax, Canada.

I am in Canada with the South African Sprint canoeing squad. World Champs starts in 8 days!!! I am their physio and team manager, what an honour! We have been able to steal some time off the water for a few runs, and this place is absolutely stunning!

Markus, the coach, and I running along the boardwalk at the Harbor before the day starts.

Keeping Bridge Hartley company on her run around the sprint course as she checks out her warm up routes for racing.

Exploring some single track through the forests near where we're staying. Taken just before Ruby and I lost Mike.

WOW, what an AMAZING day :) :) :)

Life 27/07/2009

My life at the moment is a little different to what I m used to.
I have been woking for Canoeing South Africa for the last few months, which has been incredible! I have been the physio and team manager for the sprint squad and have been traveling around alot. And generally getting pretty stuck in to the challenges that come with working with elite athletes.
I ve been loving it! Living the dream :)

I had my first paddle in a flat water boat today, and WOW! I m hooked! It was so great! And I didn t fall out, although I came close a few times! Thanks Mike for organising me a boat and paddle!!!
